Antibiotics are extremely useful drugs. But every antibiotic has
some side effects. Norfloxacin is not an exception to this rule.
Patients who are being treated with Noroxin must be aware of the
side effects of the drug.
The most common side effects of norfloxacin are nausea, stomach
upset, headache, weakness, diarrhea, dizziness and drowsiness. If
any of these side effects persist for a long time or get worse over
a period of time, it is better to notify the doctor immediately.
Most people taking norfloxacin do not have any serious side effects.
These side effects are not very serious and tend to disappear once
the patients stop taking the drug.
Some patients may experience side effects like tremors and
sunburn-like reactions on the skin. These side effects are not very
common. But if they occur, it is better to visit the doctor
immediately.
Norfloxacin has some rare and highly unlikely side effects. These
side effects are very serious. When patients experience side effects
like fainting, hearing loss, vision changes, yellowing of the eyes,
mental mood changes, seizures, persistent sore throat, fever,
yellowing of the skin, change in appearance and amount of urine,
easy bruising, bleeding, irregular heartbeat, numbness and tingling
of arms and legs, it is better to call the doctor immediately.
Norfloxacin may also cause damage to the joints on rare occasions.
Tendon may get ruptured. The doctor should be consulted immediately
if any joint pain is experienced.
Only the common side effects are likely to occur. The rare side
effects do not usually occur in most people. But it is better to be
on guard and notify the doctor immediately if any of the rare but
extremely serious side effects occur.
